A very successful Tournament was held on the weekend of October 25th and 26th – the Driftwood Shores Lakeside Triples. The greens were full with 28 teams competed for a total of $4,350 in prize money. This was made possible by the generous sponsorship of local businesses lead by Driftwood Shores, Hallmark Real Estate, Platinum Blinds, Tuross Pharmacy, KyRo Property Maintenance, Batemans Bay Travel Team, AMH Motors and Moruya Homemakers.
Players came from all over the South Coast and the Canberra Region as well as the local Clubs. The format was six games of 14 ends of two bowl Open Triples. The competition was close with none of the teams managing to win all six games. Only 4 teams managed to win 5 games and that saw them in the prize money. The best of the teams with 4 wins, one draw and a loss was able to pick up fifth place.

Visitors from the ACT, Alan Monfries, Trey Proctor and Horace Williams, managed to take home the $1500 first prize with 5 wins and a margin of plus 69 shots. The Tuross side of Rose Farrington, Denise Lidbury and Irene Macdonald came second with 5 wins and plus 36 to earn themselves $900. The Moruya team of Joel Hilliard, Tony Giannasca and Neil Rose came third with 5 wins and plus 29 winning $600.
Fourth place was just 1 shot further back with 5 wins and plus 28. Ulladulla’s Chris Godwin, Mike Frame and Mark Sommerville took home $300. The final major winner was the Merimbula side of Jeff May, Ben Hoff and Marshall Sanderson. Their 4 wins, 1 draw and loss and a plus 24 margin resulted in a $240 win!

The teams outside the major winners were in the running for the best ‘last’ game on each day. The $240 prize on Saturday went to Vikings (ACT) players Dale Budnick, Noel Schubert and Mike Corby. The winners on Sunday were Narooma players Alison and Greg Maloney and Jeremy Seaton.
As well as this 2 teams won $165 each with a lucky draw from the sides who missed out on a major prize. This meant that 27 of the 84 players who participated went home with some of the prize money!! A big thank you to all attendees for supporting Tuross Head Bowling Club.
Congratulations to all of the winners!
The hard work of the organising committee led by the Bowls Organisers – Neil and Sandy Mather – was largely responsible for the success of the weekend. Tim Watson and his grounds staff have done a wonderful job getting the greens into an excellent condition that allows all players to give of their best. The staff of Club Tuross was very supportive in the planning and running of the Tournament.
