Driftwood Shores Mixed 3-Bowl Pairs Tournament

On Wednesday 5th August, in perfect weather albeit a little cold first up, and excellent bowling conditions, Tuross Head Bowling Club held its inaugural Mixed 3-Bowl Pairs Tournament.

It was a fantastic day with 26 teams playing 4 games of 10 ends. There were close matches and very tight competition on many rinks. Teams from Merimbula, Moruya, Tomakin, Picton, Figtree, Yass, Braidwood and Malua Bay as well as quite a few Tuross bowlers filled both greens.

Results were as follows:

Round 1                  Peter Harris and Beth Whittingdon from Tomakin

Round 2                  Jeff Rankin and Margaret Flynn from Moruya

Round 3                  Neil and Sandra Mather from Tuross Head

Round 4                  Rose Farrington and Jonathan Green from Tuross Head

Overall Placegetters

First Place              Lorrie Bird & Phil Welsh from Tuross Head

Second Place       Tom Watson and Cara Patton from Braidwood

Third Place            Doug and Dale Sheridan from Figtree

Thank you to our generous sponsors McCloy Group – Driftwood Shores Tuross Head, Coastal Auto Group Moruya and Batemans Bay, Hallmark Real Estate Tuross Head, Travel Team Batemans Bay, Platinum Blinds and Awnings Moruya, Kyro Property Maintenance, Tuross Pharmacy and Jimmy’s Passenger Service Tuross Head.

We are very grateful for the ongoing support from these local businesses and for the groundwork our committee member and resident photographer, Mike Bromfield puts in to cement these wonderful partnerships.

Successful carnivals such as this take a large amount of time and effort in the organising and on the day itself. Thank you to our Bowls Organisers, Neil and Sandy Mather, along with Marcel, for your tireless work. Thank you also to our members who volunteered in the lead-up to freshen up the greens, and to the volunteers on the day who assisted with a range of duties, including the delicious morning tea, raffle ticket sales, lunch organisation etc and the responsibility of keeping the leaderboard up to date.  It was great to see so many of our members that weren’t bowling present and involved. What a wonderful community we have in a bowling club.

To the bowlers who filled teams after last minute cancellations, to ensure we had full greens, well done.

Finally, to Club Tuross and their talented Green Staff, thank you for maintaining our greens to such a high standard and for being such strong supporters of our Bowling Club carnivals.
